Environment Award Winners at the Better Society Awards

At a gala dinner held in London on 11th May 2023, i10 were crowned winners of the Environment Award.

Hosted by comedian Maisie Adam, the Better Society Awards are run by the Better Society Network, publishers of Charity Times, supported by UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF) with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) as the charity partner. The Better Society Network recognises organisations supporting social, environmental and ethical issues, both directly and indirectly. Speaking in the programme, Mark Evans, Editor of the Better Society Network said "Right now, the stories in the news are full of gloom: the war in Ukraine to cost of living, political backbiting to climate worries, and anyone looking through the prism of the mainstream media would be forgiven for putting their heads in their hands. But, whilst we cannot change the bad news, there are those that can mend and improve, those who can change and help, and with this event we celebrate those who are defying the doom and gloom and taking positive action help build a better world. From big to small, these actions speak volumes of how organisations are fulfilling their social contract with society, and in every case, going that bit further to truly build a better place. All the companies listed tonight impressed the judges, and I would like to thank them here for all their hard work and in making difficult decisions, particularly in some extremely close categories. It is a cliche to say that all the entries are winners, but here that is not only true, but all society is a winner from their work."

Other nominees at the awards were a host of household-name organisations including Coca-Cola, Bellway Homes, St. James's Place, Anglian Water, Landsec, Budweiser, KPMG, Virgin Media, Vodafone, Barnardo's, Ikea, Great Ormond Street, Premier Inn, UNICEF, Special Olympics Great Britain, Macmillan Cancer, Marie Curie, British Red Cross, Octopus, ITV, Natwest, Canon and the NSPCC, making i10's win all the more impressive.

The Environment Award is for organisations that have made significant voluntary progress in helping protect the environment through carbon reduction, offset, and energy efficiency.

An extensive panel of independent expert judges judged the awards:

  • Andy Bird, Executive Coach, Mentor & Author

  • Tahmid Chowdhury, Senior Account Director, M&C Saatchi World Services

  • Mark Evans, Publisher, Better Society

  • Simon Gillespie, CEO, British Heart Foundation

  • Rodney Gollo, Head of Risk, Bupa Asia

  • Lisa Mallinson, Giving Strategy & Programmes Manager, NatWest Group

  • Greg Sage, Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs and ESG, Royal Mail Plc

This is the latest in an impressive run of recognition for i10's leadership in social value, having recently made the prestigious Digital Leaders NetZero50 list, and won 'Environmental Champion 2022' at the Mercury Business Awards and 'Sustainability Excellence Award 2022' at the SME Midlands Enterprise Awards.
