We are proud to have been shortlisted for not one, but two Better Society Awards 2023. These prestigious national awards recognise commercial companies helping create a better, more equal, ethical and sustainable world for all. This is the latest in an impressive run of recognition for i10's leadership in offsetting and reducing carbon, having recently made the prestigious NetZero50 list, and won 'Environmental Champion 2022' at the Mercury Business Awards and 'Sustainability Excellence Award 2022' at the Midlands Enterprise Awards. i10 has been shortlisted in two categories: Carbon Reduction or Offset Programme of the Year Environment Awards The Carbon Reduction or Offset Programme of the Year category is for organisations that have made significant voluntary progress in reducing carbon emissions and/or create effective programmes for offsetting their carbon footprint. • i10: Winner, Small Business of the Year 2022

i10 is delighted to have won the 'Small Business of the Year' award at the Mercury Business Awards. The award is for businesses which can demonstrate excellence and innovation in their field, management with the ability to drive the business forward and funding arrangements and investment plans for the future of the business. To win, i10 was able to show it understands its market, has arrangements to respond to change and can demonstrate why the business should win. i10 has grown significantly over the last 3 years, reaching revenues of £2.75m in FY21/22. In that time we have delivered some outstanding digital transformation projects to public sector clients including the Food Standards Agency, Golding Homes (housing association), NHS Property Services, and several Local Authorities. In March 2022, i10 ranked number 31 in a list of top suppliers to UK Government (via the Digital Outcomes Framework), placing us alongside household names like Deloitte (30) and PwC (32) and ahead of giants like KPMG. In 2022 we donated over 42,000 meals to Fareshare and Second Helpings and made further sustainability and social value commitments for all our future work.

  • i10: Environmental Champion Award Winner

i10 has won the Environmental Champion award 2022 at the Mercury Business Awards! The award recognises i10's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint with projects including cutting our use of fossil fuels, caring for the natural environment, improving the use of resources by cutting waste, reducing pollution and increasing our environmental understanding. When you think of Government suppliers leading the way in offsetting their emissions, I doubt the consultancy sector springs to mind. Just because the sector doesn’t use concrete, lease cars or manufacture things doesn’t make it exempt. Yet up until now, consultancies haven’t exactly been proactive here. Just how unique? Plenty of business consultancies have carbon reduction initiatives, and indeed i10 has already offset our carbon footprint dating back to the year we were formed, yet we believe we’re the first business consultancy to the UK public sector to carbon offset its projects, making them routinely carbon neutral and ensuring we remain carbon negative. This was corroborated when a client confirmed that none of the twelve other big digital consultancies they worked with offered 100% project-level carbon offset. Why don't other consultancies do this? Anything not explicitly required in a quotation/tender has one of two consequences: it either erodes margin (if absorbed) or (if passed onto the client) it risks making the quotation less competitive. Neither are welcome, so until it becomes mandatory in 2050, consultancies don’t carbon offset their work. At i10, we see it as too important to ignore and we take our role in helping the UK Government to lead the way on national decarbonisation seriously. That’s why our internally administered project is carefully aligned to the social value model used by Government. Specific constraints This offering explicitly relates to consultancy services (in general) provided to the UK public sector. This is how it works: We have estimated the carbon footprint of a typical UK Government digital project In our proposals, we make commitments to offset the carbon footprint generated by each project We use initiatives such as planting trees in Restor-registered sites and funding Verra-registered Verified Carbon Standard projects, to offset the carbon footprint generated by the work We have our contributions independently verified (see below), and make them transparent a live dashboard that is publicly available A single engagement with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) back in 2021 was the pathfinder here. Under this contract, i10 planted 500 trees per project and has thus far delivered 74 projects. The success of this initiative lead us to roll it out with all our other clients and include it in all new proposals, doubling our commitment per project to 1,000 trees. How measurement is made We use a company called Ecologi (www. ecologi.com) to undertake the actual carbon offsetting. They provide a live tracker of how many trees we’ve planted, where, and even which species. This can be seen here, with highlights included below: Governance The trees we plant are in Restor-registered sites, typically via Eden Reforestation Projects (977+ million trees planted to date) who work with Governments and local communities to ensure the protection, health and growth of the trees. We also use We used an ‘employ to plant’ model, providing a consistent income for local people who work as planters, nursery staff and forest guards, allowing the local community to achieve greater levels of access to education, nutrition and healthcare. Our partners at Ecologi ensure that sustainable land-use practices are followed. The trees planted will provide new food sources for local people including avocado, lemon and papaya trees. Additionally, for our carbon capture, we utilise four Verra-registered Verified Carbon Standard/Gold Standard projects, offsetting 180 tonnes of carbon at the time of writing. Results We already expect to offset 805,000kg/805 tonnes of CO2 per annum through our pathfinder client contract. By rolling this out across all our clients, we expect to offset an additional 1,250,000kg/1,250 tonnes of CO2 per annum Cumulatively, that’s the equivalent of 2,690 long haul flights, or 6,165m2 of sea ice saved, or almost 5.1 million miles driven in a car

  • i10 wins large contract with CCS

i10 is delighted to have won a contract with Crown Commercial Service (CCS) worth up to £4m over 12 months. Procured using the new Digital Specialists and Programmes (RM6263) framework, lot 1 Digital Programmes, i10 was selected ahead of 50 household-name consultancies and digital agencies including Cap Gemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, Fujitsu and Kainos. About CCS CCS is one of the largest procurement organisations in Europe, providing commercial solutions to the UK & NI public sector by improving the way we buy goods and services, saving money for the taxpayer and using the government's buying power to support the economy. CCS advises and negotiates on behalf of all government departments and the wider public sector to obtain better value services, engaging with the market and helping to make the procurement process faster, less costly and more effective for suppliers and buyers and to actively improve the value gained from contracts across government. CCS is at the centre of a generational change to the way public procurement is run across the UK public sector. The Transforming Public Procurement Green Paper, published in December 2020, sets out a number of strategic objectives for the UK and CCS will be at the forefront of delivering these. The Programme i10 will be working with CCS’s Digital and Data Services Directorate (DDS), which is responsible for the provision of secure, innovative, flexible digital solutions to ease the burden of procurement, whilst enhancing and empowering the usability to provide effective, quick, safe procurement in the digital age, supporting the Contracting Authority and its wider customer base. As part of an ambitious portfolio of work, i10 is supporting CCS to establish and run: Digital and IT Service Management: A Service & IT Management programme of excellence that will enhance and mature the Services operational functional capability. Digital Capacity & Capability for Design: support for the establishment and running of a Service Design function, incorporating User Research & Business Analysis alongside Enterprise & Solution Architecture. Programme/Project Management and Improvement Function (PPMI): incorporating Programme Management / Project Management and Project Management support (PMO). CCS, therefore, had a broad-ranging need for high-quality, cost-effective DDaT capability, capacity and expertise and has selected i10, recognising that the best way to deliver value for the taxpayer whilst fulfilling all the requirements of the contract, is to deploy i10's unique, proven ecosystem model, comprising over 20 outstanding UK SMEs. Reacting to the news, i10 Founder and CEO Mark Hastings said "We are absolutely delighted to have won such a significant engagement with CCS. This win is a further reinforcement of the power of our ecosystem approach to delivering value to the UK public sector and we look forward to helping CCS at this exciting time in public sector procurement transformation". The contract will run from 23rd January 2023 until 24th January 2024, with the option to extend by a further 6 months.

  • i10 Helps to Launch new Enforcement Conduct Board

i10 has helped to launch the new Enforcement Conduct Board (ECB). A brand new organisation, ECB is the new oversight body for the debt enforcement sector in England and Wales, whose purpose is to ensure that all those subject to enforcement action in England and Wales are fairly treated. The ECB will provide independent oversight of the enforcement industry, with special regard for those experiencing financial difficulty or other vulnerable circumstances. Until now, there has been no independent oversight of the enforcement industry. Minimum standards, published by the Ministry of Justice, expect enforcement agents to treat those in debt fairly, but these standards are not legally binding. i10 was engaged to design and deliver ECB's new website, in challenging and immovable timescales - to coincide with the launch of the new organisation. We worked closely with ECB to create website content, develop a sitemap, design ECB branding and website, develop the website (build, test and SEO optimisation). The resulting website was built using Gov.UK design principles and accessibility standards WCAG 2.1AA. i10 also hosts and supports the new site. We delivered the project on time and budget, with very positive feedback from ECB.

  • Explainer: What is an ecosystem?

The journey to lasting change is often uncertain. Clients need a partner that can deal with uncertainty and negotiate the twists and turns of programme delivery. We have created an ecosystem that enables us to provide a broad range of skills and deep capability to enable clients deal with these challenges, confident they can access the right skills at the right time, in real-time, to achieve the best outcomes. Harvard Business Review recently said that "ecosystem businesses are challenging the conventional view of how businesses operate." But what is an ecosystem? Here's our handy explainer! An ecosystem business model refers to the way companies interact with and depend on other companies, organisations, and individuals to create value for clients. In an ecosystem business model, companies collaborate and co-create value with their partners to achieve a common goal: working together to create and offer goods and services to clients. The companies in the ecosystem complement each other and often share resources and data to create new opportunities and efficiencies. The benefits of ecosystem business models are many, but they can be broadly categorised into three main areas: innovation, efficiency, and agility. Innovation First, ecosystems can be powerful drivers of innovation. By bringing together diverse partners with different skills, resources, and perspectives, ecosystems can foster the creation of new products and services, and harness innovative thinking that would not be possible otherwise. Efficiency Second, ecosystems can help drive efficiency by reducing costs and increasing the speed at which new products and services can be delivered. By leveraging the capabilities of partners, ecosystems can access new technologies, processes, and resources that will help them to deliver for their clients. Responsiveness Finally, ecosystems are more nimble and responsive than traditional businesses and therefore able to adapt quickly to changing client needs, market conditions and niche requirements by working with a diverse set of partners. Additionally, ecosystems provide resilience through easy access to new resources and capabilities, making them stronger partners in the face of uncertainty. How can ecosystems help the UK public sector? Ecosystem business models can be an effective way to address the challenges facing the UK public sector, such as improving service delivery, transforming services, improving citizen experience/patient outcomes, reducing costs, and increasing innovation. By engaging an ecosystem, public sector clients can access a wide range of expertise, resources, experiences and capabilities of the ecosystem partners to transform their services and operations. Ecosystems can also play a key role in helping the public sector to deliver new and innovative services that meet the needs of citizens. By working with ecosystem partners, public sector organisations can access new technologies and services that will help them to improve the quality and efficiency of their services, and to address the changing needs of citizens. By selecting a partner with an ecosystem business model, public sector clients can access the broad and deep capabilities of that ecosystem through a single procurement, rather than running multiple expensive and time-consuming procurements to achieve the same goal. They are a great way to kick-start a major transformation programme where the final destination is not known from the outset. Establishing multi-year partnerships in this way can help clients to adapt their transformation programmes over time, as needs become clearer. The i10 Ecosystem The i10 ecosystem is specifically designed to provide broad and deep DDaT expertise to UK public sector clients in central government, arm's length bodies, local government, healthcare, social housing / housing associations, defence and blue light. This ecosystem approach brings additional benefits over traditional consultancy models, specifically: Resilience, breadth and depth - working with multiple partners makes us less susceptible to market-forces-related risks, drawing on over 1,750 Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) experts. Independence - with deep expertise across most client tech stacks, we are focused on solving our clients' challenges in the right way for them, rather than being driven by utilisation rates or excess capacity. Hive-mind thinking - "None of us is as smart as all of us”, and our ecosystem means our clients benefit from diverse hive-mind thinking from the UK’s best SMEs to wrestle with their most complex challenges and solve them in innovative and cost-effective ways. In conclusion, ecosystem business models can be powerful tools for creating value and solving challenges faced by the UK public sector. To find out more, please get in touch!

  • 2022 Retrospective

As we all look ahead to 2023, here's a quick summary of what we achieved in 2022 - another fantastic year for i10! ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND RECOGNITION By far our proudest achievements have been in the positive environmental impacts we have been able to make. We remain part of the SME climate hub, recognised by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign - making i10 one of 2,600 SMEs across 84 countries to have committed to achieving net-zero emissions by no later than 2050. However, we believe that 2050 is too late, so in 2022, i10 offset the carbon footprint we have created since we were established back in 2006. We achieved this impressive milestone by offsetting our historic carbon footprint through our partnership with Ecologi. So far, we have planted 27,600 trees, in Restor-registered sites to offset the carbon footprint generated by our work. We used an ‘employ to plant’ model, providing a consistent income for local people who work as planters, nursery staff and forest guards, allowing the local community greater access to education, nutrition and healthcare. Our partners at Ecologi ensure that sustainable land-use practices are followed. The trees planted will provide new food sources for local people including avocado, lemon and papaya trees. Additionally, we have part-funded 4 Verra-registered Verified Carbon Standard projects, off-setting 170 tonnes of carbon. These contributions have contributed to us winning several awards in 2022, including: SME News, Sustainability Excellence Award Mercury Business Awards, Environmental Champion Additionally, in 2022 we were delighted to make the Net Zero 50 list in the 'In House Net Zero' category - one of only five businesses on the list! Such national recognition is a testament to the enormous efforts we have made to lead by example in becoming net zero. As the first-ever list of its kind, the Net Zero 50 showcases the work already underway and the 50 most inspiring individuals, initiatives, products and services cross-sector and across the UK driving forward decarbonisation. We were incredibly proud to have been recognised in this way, and the breakfast at the House of Lords was a lovely bonus too! STRONG CLIENT DELIVERY AND PERFORMANCE We are delighted to have continued working with the Food Standards Agency during 2022, as their Digital, Data, Technology, Information Management and Cyber Security partner, delivering projects that create and improve internal and external FSA services. Some of our work at FSA was nominated for a Digital Leaders Impact Award. We are proud to have added several new clients to our portfolio in 2022, including: NHS Property Services Careology Enforcement Conduct Board Your Housing Group Our ecosystem continues to go from strength to strength and our strong performance is evidenced by our progress up the ranks of the biggest UK public sector suppliers: rising from #46 of DOS suppliers in Q1, peaking at #31 in March 2022 (sandwiched between giants Deloitte and PwC)! This outstanding performance has resulted in several awards too, including: SME News, Best Public Sector Transformation Consultancy Mercury Business Awards, Small Business of the Year Crucially, this strong performance means we are able to meaningfully contribute to society too, and in 2022 we donated 43,200 meals to Fareshare and Second Helpings in Stamford, part of the Real Junk Food Project. This level of social value is unprecedented for a business our size, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to social value. MATURING OUR BUSINESS 2022 has brought a number of areas of maturity for i10, including: Cyber Essentials Plus certification Successfully winning a place on Crown Commercial Service's new Digital Programmes framework (DSP RM6263) - one of only 51 successful applications - adding to our place on DOS and GCloud A website and branding refresh Continued reporting of our diversity and inclusion statistics to TechTalentCharter Ongoing adherence to our Prompt Payment Code commitments Greater social media presence and engagement IN SUMMARY All in all, 2022 has been a phenomenal year for i10, and we look forward to building on this success in 2023!

  • Social Value: A Little Christmas Cheer

As we head into the Christmas season, we recognise that this is a difficult time for many, particularly with the ongoing challenges around the cost of living and inflation. It's nice, therefore, to be able to spread a little Christmas cheer and we are proud to be of the work we continue to do delivering social value as part of our engagements. We have today donated a further 19,200 meals to help those in need this Christmas, supporting the great work of Second Helpings in Stamford, part of the Real Junk Food project. That takes the total number of meals we have donated to 43,200. We have also planted an additional 2,700 trees to offset the carbon emissions of our most recent work packages meaning we have now planted 27,600 in total. We'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2023.

  • Social Value: i10 makes the Digileaders Net Zero 50 list

At a time of heightened awareness of the environment and to coincide with COP27, the Digileaders Net Zero 50 List showcases the top 50 individuals, organisations, initiatives, products and services helping us reach Net Zero in the UK. It celebrates the net zero innovations and innovators who are helping us achieve the UK’s net zero agenda. As the first-ever list of its kind, the Net Zero 50 showcases the work already underway, the 50 most inspiring individuals, initiatives, products and services cross-sector and across the UK driving forward decarbonisation. i10 is delighted to have made the Net Zero 50 list in the 'In House Net Zero' category - one of only five businesses on the list! Such national recognition is a testament to the huge efforts we have made to lead by example in becoming net zero. As we are all aware, reaching net zero is an enormous challenge that requires common effort and responsibility, and a change in individual and group behaviour. Ambitious action, robust policy and private and public coordination on the national, regional and local level are needed urgently to meet the 2050 target. Yet, the foundations are already being laid to transform the UK economy, businesses and society. i10 feel that 2050 is too late to deliver on climate commitments, so we decided to lead by example. In May 2021 we became carbon negative for that financial year. In March 2022 we went further and backdated our carbon offset to the year we were founded in 2006. And that's why we have been recognised in this way! Meet the list and vote now: https://www.netzero50.uk/vote How we do it So far, in partnership with Ecologi, we have planted 24,900 trees, in Restor-registered sites to offset the carbon footprint generated by our work.
